Theory Instruction

We at Studio Cantabile, desire to give a well-rounded music education to our students.  This includes music theory instruction.  We use a course of study supported by the Maryland State Music Teachers Association (MSMTA).  It is a sequenced curriculum which supports a classical methodology of education.  

Students learn the fundamentals of music reading and ear-training that is foundational for music analysis and composition.  Students are offered the opportunity to take a music theory exam through the MSMTA network.
